Has anybody used a windsurfing waist harness (or seat) for kiting at all? Is it safe and does it work ok, at least even for a temporary measure?..

I have only ever used a windsurf race seat harness for 15+ years and never had a problem. I started before kite harnesses were available and just used the seat harness I had and just got use to it. Never had a problem with the strength either and jumps have never torn the stitching. No doubt a kite specific harness is proberbly better.

Same as Hardcarve, except i had to attach a D ring for my safety leash, Piece of piss.
Good things.

Opposite experience for me. With a lot of jumping and freestyle I found the stitching would tear out within a few weeks. Used them in the early days and would replace every couple of months.

Old windsurfing harness (seat) did the job very nicely for years. Not much difference in them really except for a spot to attach the safety. Get innovative and Im sure you can sort that
If I could have worked out how to utilise the quiver of sails, mast, boom and plethora of boards I would have, but sadly the harness was the only useful thing to cross over....
