Has anyone tried the new 2005 windwing kites yet ?

Just picked up a new Rage II with the new safety system when I was in HK.

Have not had a chance to fly as yet but did get a chance to inspect the kite and bars in the living room.

IMHO build quality is same if not better then most kites as they basicly come from the same factory! Materials the are same .

SAFE system looks very simple in design and is well thought our (must wait to see the result when flown

Kite comes with jumpstart relaunch also

CC bar is great . can't wait to get on the water

Pump has an aluminium shaft

BAG OMG the bag is the best out there ! I think they really thought out the design well . Extendable, has section on side for pump and bar and straps for board and best of all it's compact !

They even put in an extra wet kite pouch so thea you can put the kite with struts inflated and wet in this seperate pouch.

NOW Can't wait until the weekend to see how it performs.

Hoots, did you end up getting the SS?

I've never tried one, but I'm very interested to see one, especially the SAFE system. Where abouts in Sydney do you normally ride, and how often? I'd like to try and catch up with you one day to have a look at the Windwing.

Cheers

There is a dealer in Melbourne BUT you will pay a premium.

Better off to get the kite from windexpress.com they ship to oz within 7 days for $75.00USD

I was lucky enough to get mine without GST, Duty has been abolished.

My friend was very impressed with the safe system and commented that it was great.

We were at Dolls point yesterday and the winds were very light. He is much heavier than me so did not really get a chance to ride the kite on a board. Whilst test flying in the water, he was involved in a near miss incident with a Learner. The learner was on a Rhino 1 and swooped the kite across his lines. He was able to dive the kite and had to Loop it on land to get low enough to get it out of the way. after doing so he depowered using SAFE and the kite just sat on the ground without power.

Once the Learner had crashed her kite Narrowly missing some families, my Friend was able to just pull on the bar and get going again by steering the kite back up without hassles.

Full points to the Windwing guys and SAFE.

Look out for the new RAPTURE kite on Windwing.com released soon.....

I've just received a brand new 05 Best Yarga 11 from the US. Paid 10% GST and a 50$ Customs Entry fee (standard for items over $200). No other duties were payable. Hope that helps.

Great kite btw

Uber,

You must be new cos the wind was never offshore on Sunday at Dolls.
Yeah there were some near misses and one of those were two people were learning to body drag with a Rhino 1.

They almost crashed their kite into my Rage 2 and then some beach goers. They scared the ****e out of me when they came up later when I asked them about their experience and I noticed that they were riding without a QR. Old Rhino bar.

Size depends on board size as well as your experience.
But having taken that into condsideration, I believe a 14 for Sydney this summer would be your best bet. Are you considering buying a WW ??

Hurrah,

Now that you've been flying the Rage II's for a while, would you say that the windrage really is as good as you expected?

I'm planning to buy a pair of Rage II's while the deal is still available, and I'm just trying to decide which 2 sizes I should go for. It sounds like you've been able to use your 12m in pretty low winds (10-12 knts?). How much do you weigh, and what board do you ride?

I'm about 80kg, intermediate riding level, and I'm trying to decide whether I should go for a 10/14 combo or a 12/17 combo. What do you reckon?

Have you flown the 17 yet?

Sorry for all the questions :) I'm still hoping to meet up and have a look at your kites in action. Do you kite during the week at all?

Cheers

Jason,

Give me a call to discuss further. No not flown the 17 yet.
Winds have either been too strong or not at all.

personally, I'd go for the 10 / 14 for you.

Depends on what conditions you're flying in.

I find my 8 is way powerful enough from 20 knots on so a 10 I wouldn't be able to handle in anything over 26 with gusts I think.
