Hello Woodman Pt kiters
I was the sailboarder who did a a couple runs down the north side of Woodman Point during your freestyle? comp today. Sincere apologies if I disrupted the heat of any competitor - certainly not intentional. I saw your marker bouys when I launched but could not follow what was going on at all. When a wise competitor pointed out to me that there was a comp on and what the foramt was I indicated that I would not run down the spit when you were under yellow or green flag (heats). He seemed happy with that. I certainly had not seen the flags until he pointed them out to me (incidently he - on a white and green north kite - quite young - white boardies - seen him there before and chatted - looked like he was the best out there by a country mile but that is up to the judges).
I've sailed at north side Woodman with kiters on at least a dozen occasions this summer, sometimes as many as 15 of you and never had any problems. Drag raced with afew of you and passed on the GPS speed.
The reason I sailed today and was keen to keep sailing between your heats was that it was a spring high tide of 1.12 metres and there was 20 to 30 knots forecast. These are ideal speed sailboarding (GPS)conditions and that is what I am into - I've speed sailing at Woodman for over 20 years. When it became apparent that the wind was not going to get anywhere near that upper mark I left.
Once again, apologies if during the 2 or 3 runs I did disrupted any competitors heat. In the interests of harmonious sailing at Woodman I've come clean.

Peter, good one ya for comming clean...
Yeah there was a few pissed off judges and riders sitting on the beach during your first couple of runs. Not too sure if the riders on the water were at all miffed ?
We do have to come to an arrangement between our selves how to police each bay for kiters/windsurfers as I see in the future it's going to get ugly and quite possibly some will get hurt. Once that happen I forsee CALM will come in and close us all down. There's quite a lot of interest by CALM at present surrounding Woodmans Pt. I propose we should form club down there "woodmans point board riders" (take into account kiters & windsurfers) then approach CALM to establish our selves as a body of members who can work together to establish some rules, signs for the public and visiting riders etc etc... And also the fact that Woodmans point is a NO DOG beach...

Thanks Peter. Its easier to diffuse and resolve potential issues when there's communication and you did take the time out to listen and talk with me on the beach. Much appreciated.
You didn't publish your speed by the way. What was it?

PS. Guy's, I really like Brownee's suggestion. It will be a lot safer if we can bed down some local guidelines and help mature the sports use of the area.
