Has anyone got or does anyone know where i can get one of those hand pumps that allows you to turn off the up stroke pumping?

just pull the "up" valve/seal out of your regular pump.

yeah Cabrinha did the same thing years and years ago - but the adjustment knob always broke so it didnt work at all...

Just open your pump and take off the rubber bit that corresponds with the up stroke...

Why do you want to do twice as many strokes to pump up a kite?

that's right!

Its easy going with the double action, until the end! hence the ability to change it, all i want to do is get my kite nice and FIRM if you know what i mean

so the consensus is that they no one has one? and they just die?

The amount of presure there is on the kite pump directly relates to the piston size, so if you cant find a pump that does what you want and dont want to modify yours then look around for the pump with the skinnyest barrel it will be easyer to pull back up. I have seen some smaller pumps at camping stores for inflating air mattresses, may be a good place to start looking.

If not you may find a nice strong lady or kid to help you out.LOL.

Nah mate just pull out the little rubber valves that do the up stroke. Simple

I do it. It's heaps easier on your back - the up stroke is a real back killer, especially on a cold day when your desperate to get in the water and haven't warmed up.
