For eight long years I have trying unsuccessfully to do a back roll. I say again - EIGHT YEARS. For most people the easiest trick there is. But I have been convinced I suffer roll-dyslexia. My brain has just not been able to include the extra dimension in what I'm doing out there.
I would prepare to do a roll, then flail about madly looking a little bit like a fish on a hook, then splash in any number of amusing positions.
It had reached the point where I would think about trying to do a roll and fall over. I was resigned to a life of permanent non-rolling. Perhaps I needed a sports psychologist. Perhaps I should just take up lawn-bowls instead.
The things I have tried:
Magazines
Videos
Reading every forum post I can find
Stringing up a bar and lines from the veranda
Going out and body-slamming over-and-over again.
I even booked remedial lessons (but never attended as got a season ending injury before it happened)
Well, at the duck's nuts here in Tassie, an Easter miracle occured.
It finally clicked! Both tacks. I was rolling so much I was getting dizzy
I'm so happy - I'm not dyslexic after all.
So to all people who have been struggling for several months now with a roll, just think in 2018 you too may finally master it.

Yes, I have been truly lame for a long time now - and have quite happily acknowledged it. But that is all behind me now. In eight more years I'm sure I shall master my next trick!
