What is better, Altona oder St.Kilda in that wind? Is Altona good enough in WSW and low tide?
For me it's the same way, so i don't really know...

Thanks for advices! ;)

WSW at Altona can be a bit gusty as the wind is still catching the edge of the land. St Kilda is probably a better bet.

Did anyone get out? Hope it was good. Got out at Brighton in the Northerly on Sunday - nice day but not the best wind.

Tomorrow looks OK - forecast below. Might try to head for Altona in the arvo if it comes up and swings SE. Otherwise St Kilda/Brighton. Andi, I am on night shift but if you are interested call me after 11am.

See ya,
JAmes

Tonight and Tuesday
South to southwesterly wind 15 to 20 knots easing to 10 to 15 knots and tending
southeasterly by the morning. Southeast wind reaching 20 knots at times in the
late Tuesday afternoon and evening. Waves to 1 metre decreasing to around half a
metre overnight, but locally reaching 1 metre again late afternoon and early
evening.

I went for a walk along St Kilda pier on Saturday and the water was disgustingly green. I remember looking at my lines after kiting next to the pier one day last year and it was covered in this green slimy algae.

Low tide at Altona is no good, well its not as good as high tide anyway as you can kite on the flat water close to the bank. It is good to see the south easterlies starting so early, hoping its going to be a good year, like last year!!

Haven't been kiting at St Kilda much over the last year. Have had some sessions there kiting along dry retching after taking a fall.

re. Altona, thanks. Just checked the tides. If there's wind I'll get out somewhere....

Went out for a session this afternoon, had a great time. Good to get some water time. Kept dying off every now and then but there were moments of 15-20 knots that made it all worthwhile.

In short, beaches are as follows:

Northly - Brighton (or Rye if you want to drive further)
SW - St Kilda or Altona
SE - Altona

PM if you want the exact street address for where the guys kite, I have them in my Sat Nav so I can give you the intersections.

Not at this time of year. As it gets warmer it gets more crowded. Mid week is obviously quieter.
