Sorry folks, the topic discussing this guy & his business has been removed.

The contents may be true, or may not. We're not keen on "naming and shaming" a person / business in these forums, regardless of whether they are a scammer or not.

No kangaroo courts here! All you do when you throw dirt is lose ground!

From the Forum Policy
www.seabreeze.com.au/Members/Help/ForumRules.aspx#h41 :

Complaints about a business

When this occurs, the poster is usually quite fired up and emotional. Often the customer is now out to cause as much damage as possible to the business with the mission that they are "fully justified" (their words) and "simply stating facts" (their words) about the business.

This may be the case .. or not. There are many sides to any story. The point is that the Seabreeze forums are not the appropriate place to resolve the issue. Go to the appropriate legal/government authority and do it there.

Choose not to, and end up in hot water. As soon as you flame a business, you'll usually get supporters of the business come out in defense and question your behaviour and motives. People interested in the discussion will seek more information from you. It soon descends into an argument containing many and varied versions of the truth and everybody goes home unhappy.

It has never ended well for anybody.

The business is damaged, the poster now has a stigma in the forum community (and now can't deal with many shops because the shops know what will happen if they cross this customer #65533; there business will get dragged through the mud.)

And of course, there#65533;s also the situation when the poster does not really have a complaint, but is simply a competitor or naive associate of a business who thinks the way to get more business is to degrade the competition.

A special note: This applies (and has been applied) to any business, not just businesses that sponsor the site.

Complaints about an individual
Here's an idea - talk to them directly, or send them a PM. There is absolutely no need to post a message looking for support of your dislike/disapproval of somebody. Please seek an alternate outlet, not the forums.

Why? All you need to do is imagine your response if you log-on one day and see your name as the topic of a post, followed by 8 posts by strangers dissing your behaviour. Like 9 out of 10 people, you would write to us to have it removed.

I agree Laurie with everything you say, however in this case there is a long and sorry history with this fellow, he has caused a lot of problems in kitesurfing communities along the East Coast, and as Pearl said the ban is a direct result of his actions in the Byron Bay main beach area.

I think people need to be made aware of this sort of problem, this forum is a fantastic resource for communicating with responsible kiters who care about access and promoting responsible and sustainable kitesurfing and powerkiting activities.

Personally I would have left the posts remain. Maybe just delete the references to the website if you felt you had to do anything?

I understand your position laurie; so will not refer to any individual but say in the matter of public interest: After lodging a formal complaint with IKO, have been advised he is no longer a validated instructor after a series of complaints (even though he advertises as one). Further action will be taken through the local council as suggested by IKO.
It is extremely important that anyone considering lessons check their instructors current credentials and insurance.
I could say so much more on the matter but will leave it at that.

surely if this is the case, the forum would be a good medium for warning people of this guy.

I reckon that would be better than having everyone whispering really nasty things about me behind my back - as they all do - all the time - nasty pasty.
I know they do cos the voices keep telling me.

Hey Laurie

I wouldn't mind being able to read what was written - as I haven't been at a computer for a couple of days and missed the thread. The ban effects me as a regular out there.

As for the 'budgie' perhaps they should make some rules that require you to stay off the beach - that might make him leave the area for somewhere where he can pose close up - watchout hopefully he is coming your way!
