Hi there guys just a quick question. I am currently ridding the 17M 2006 slingshot fuel and i am wondering if the bar that came with this kite is the corredt size?, it is massive!!! when i spin it round to untwist the lines i have to lean back to avoid being struck down by the thing!!! Has anyone else had a similar problem and could i use this kite with a smaller bar or perhaps cut the one i have down shorter somehow?
ridding scared Dave.

the first pic that you see is a 17 fuel - the bar can be spun... looks like yours might be too big// :)

Thanks for the pic, it looks the same length as mine. I would say if he was ridding upright he would be struck by the end of the bar as well.
Any other ideas?

i ride my 20m Spectrum II and 16m M80 with the 42cm bar you get with 9m M80's... its fine for me... i dont notice that much difference in turning speed...
cut it down or use ur small bar :-D ur slingy should be quick to turn regardless of how long ur bar is its not the size that matters, its how you use it

i have the 15m 06 fuel and use the 17 inch bar on it and all my smaller fuels. the 15 came standard with the 20. not sure what the 17m comes standard with but i would think its the 20 inch also. on the bar you can unscrew the ends in a matter of seconds. if you want to make it shorter prehaps take an inch of each side of the bar and see how that goes, put it in a vice and use a hacksaw to take what you want of each side. i personally think that with the dug out on the 06 bar it makes it turn effortlessly so you dont need the big bar if you dont want. i used to always use the 20 inch on the 05's and not the 17 but now wont use anything but the 17 with the dug out. give it a try , but just take off a little bit at a time, coz you cant go back

I have a Cabrinha CO2 6.5m, Cabrinha Element 10m, Naish Aero 12m, and Naish Aero 16m, all of which I ride with the Cabrinha 50cm PowerDrive bar and lines which came with my 10m Ele. I've tuned the 12 and 16m so the bar works perfectly on these kites, and that's what I prefer using.

If you allready have a bar and lines you are using with another kite and would prefer to use this Bar/lines, you can use it with this kite as long as you ensure when you are initially setting it up, that the lines are in the correct positions, or alter the knots on the kite or on your bar, or visa versa etc.

Either way, you can change your bar and lines between kites, you just need to ensure it's modified and you know how to set it up correctly.

The 17 has a 23 inch bar as standard (slingy website), taking 1.5 inches from each end will give a 20 inch bar and 3 inches from each end will give a 17...

I probably didnt nead to go into detail on that hey...

Thats cool that you can shorten it though! had no idea...

Hey guys thanks for the help i think i will just shorten this bar like ryland said.
I will cut it to 20 first i think if that's still to big i will make it 17.
So you just undo those little screws and the end comes off? then cut off how much you want?
Sounds easy in therory.
cheers Dave

all you need is a small phillips head screw driver , hacksaw and a vice also makes it easier but can be done without one. then once done you should be able to screw the screws in without predrilling. they must have the 23 inch like the machines. they are a big bar and with the dug out you definately can get away with a smaller bar on the 06 fuels.

I'd have to say that the perfect bar length is that of the
Gunn Island. Easily accomodates over 50 blokes, with a nice block in the middle so you don't have to look at each other(means no biff)

Hi Dave. I have several 05 model SS 20 inch bars. I would think about swapping one for a 23 inch. pm me if you want to look at that as an option. Cheers, Warren
