looking at a trip sometime soon, wife, 2 kids (6 and 8) and a couple of kites. Where has been the best holiday for kiting where the wife got to relax and the kids had a blast?? Prefer surf but not really that fussed!

Whitsunday islands, no surf but decent kiting, awesome weather, many a cocktail for the missus and loads of snorkeling and fun activities for the little ones.

PM me or bananaboy for details.

Hey Lancekenny, not a bad spot but don't stay too long you'll go troppo if the weather set's in. Mate on the sunny coast has some new area's to kite just ask echostorm, he's currently taking photo's right near his back door where you can kite in the paddock!!

NQ is troppo so most months are unpredictable, summer is nice and humid and rainy, spring is best, autumn=bali weather, winter is the best, when WA is in winter, Whitsundays are cranking.

Conway beach is a good spot, mind for crocs though, sometimes the tide goes out 800metres or so, good for land boarding...

Another good one is Whitehaven beach, but only charters will get u there really, and u cant camp on the island.

Lizard Island is further north around magnetic (which is great diving) Dunk Island and Brampton are wayyy south, the Superbank is about 900Kms south.

Hamilton island sucks.

But if ur going soon, you could stop by at the Coconet classic on the way at Bowen, where $15K awaits you...

Cairns is an awsome place to ride (yorkeys knob). Its good for the missus and kids, there is plenty to do. Kiting is always good, with the wind fairly consistent and locals are ok. I have been there a couple of times. My wife was 7 months pregnant and she semed to have a nice time. We stayed on the beach at a holiday rental and I kited every day.

I have a friend who lives on Magnetic Island (non kiter) and a friend on Cairns... my aprehension with these places is the safety in the water - water life etc that we dont get down south... is this a fair assumption?
