Hallo Sara,

I wouldn't bother buying a van for 3 months. Long term rental shouldn't cost more than $30.00 per day. You might get even better rates in Deutschland. Here are 2 links:

www.wickedcampers.com.au/
Try the others too eg. Apollo, Britz etc.
We still have wind here in Port Douglas and the Cairns Beaches in October. It's getting quite here at the end of November and that's a good time for wind in WA.

Man sieht sich...

Tsch??

South Australia will be turning it on then too, but more towards December/January

Check out the Yorke Peninsula coast (limestone coast, Edithburg), Eyre Peninsula coast (Whyalla to Pt Lincoln) and the West Coast (i.e. Coffins Bay, Elliston, Streaky Bay).

Most beaches will have camping grounds and you will usually have the beach to yourself.

Western Australia will be a similar story with miles of empty coastline and lots of places to explore.

The whole of the East Coast gets good wind at that time of year including some good Northerlies at Noosa. Make sure you visit the Sunshine Coast during your travels.

try melbourne

we get wind from september to november 3 -4 times a week then november to march 5-7 days a week and melbourne is closer to sydney than perth is to sydney (especially if you are driving)

I'm a Sydney sider, and got insanely jealous whilst looking at the forecast for Perth everyday.

Surely there is no question that SW WA is the number one spot during Oct - Jan? Or have all these cocky Perth kiters just been ****1ing with me?

If you are coming only for the wind. Western Australia is the place to go. We get a seabreeze (SW) here most days in summer, and the further north you go, the windier it will be.
A van would be worth it then. Because WA (western australia) is HUGE. And if you drive you can kite at some special spots.
You should be able to get a van in average condition for less than $5000AU.
One tip though. If your travelling in an old van, it might break down, in Australia it can be a very very very long way to find someone to help. So have lots of water.

Start in Exmouth (sexy Exy) first week of October (after school holidays) and work your way south...enjoy. Bring at least 2 kites a surfboard and twinny, or best buy in WA.

Well I'm from Queensland, I moved over here and left my family on the East Coast because of it. I don't intend to go back either. But that's just me.
