We live in a country where the nanny state still isn't serious about road safety (too many people too, hard to make the tough decisions) The nanny state will hunt down old fellas riding 'illegal electric scooters capable of the dizzying speeds of 25 km/h" yet allow maniacs in their death machines to rule the roads (my family and many others were nearly destroyed when a cluster of learner drivers merged and a lunatic doing at least 130 km/h in a 90 km/h zone came around the outside nearly collecting everyone ,I witnessed at least 100 speeding drivers yesterday and 3 close calls in a 2 hour drive ,yet not one cop car over the last 3 days )
The nanny state will look for any easy opportunity to be seen to be doing something to protect the public from itself (and itself from the hungry media) and soft targets with minority participants will bear the brunt of their controlling hand.

I am not sure of the circumstances (and neither are the cops or the media) but the nanny state is quick to respond .

if you think that kiting at your local is safe from the nanny state ,think again

I do find the whole concept of confiscating someone's car for 24 or 48 hours to be a joke. Who can't live without a car for a day? Confiscate the bastards car for a month and let him feel the pain a bit. If he does it again, take it away for a year.

There is no excuse for endangering other people. its one thing to put your own life in your hands, you can do that with an extreme sport, but putting other people's lives at stake is piss poor!

It's the same with kites, you have to be using the same gear as everyone else or else you too dangerous, considered a kite pest and should be run out of town or refused business...

Whats happening????

come and live in SE Queensland for a bit, and you'll probably reassess your current opinion of "bad driving"

6 lanes on the freeway and they still can't pick a lane to drive in, people are determined to turn left from the right hand lane at a roundabout and visa versa, have yet to discover their cars have indicators, and no matter how fast you're going they still love to drive so far up your ar$e they might as well be in the car with you
