to the 60 - 70 kg guys who keep questioning why I'm putting up a 14
while they are putting up 12's
you will be more powered on your 12 than me on my 14
as im 115 kgs
if your reading this black range rover guy
you were such a dick about it today
and you are an average Kiter so concentrate on your own kiting
and don't aproach people with advice if you don't know what your on about
rant over

I didn't even know they made men in 70kg

Mind you, you do get some funny looks when they're on 7's and you're pumping up a 12 but at least the majority of kiters are concerned about one anothers welfare.

While black range rover guys can be disturbing lets cut them some slack as some of them could be big guys who may be well aware of the concept of power to weight ratios in kiting.

It is remarkable indeed how many people are unaware of big guys needs including some kite schools. This can slow down beginners as it takes some grunt to get the big guy up.

Also kite design can have an enormous impact on the power generated for a particular kite size and how easily it can be depowered. A zephyr can be held down easily well above 20 knots despite being 17m while an airush zero is not designed for those sort winds despite being smaller.

Kiters in the west can afford range rovers ??????

That's a lot if car for a tiny man

We ride rusty push bikes and carry our gear on our backs to the beach over here in the east

And don't forget about the size and type of your board, your skill level, your budget (not all of us can afford a kite for every colour of arrow) will influence the kite you pump up on the day.

I now only have one kite and one board, so I don't waste time pondering over kite size and board.

For the bigger gent, it's more important to have bigger gear when the wind is lighter. As the wind picks up, the differemce in needed sizes decreases...

Nothing says cashed up FIFO bogan like a black rangie with 5 grade window tint. It's the the hollywood HSV

mmmmmm, Im 110 kegs, my only kite is 11.5 Argo, 140 x 42 twin tip, huge wind range, quite often smaller guys out on bigger kites, started many years ago on a 17m fuel, always the biggest kite in the sky, talk about grunt with no brakes
