Just wondering if many guys are riding bindings out there out all?
Id be pretty keen to give em a go
only problem I can kinda see is im riding a 128 custom
reckon thats a little small? alot of guys seem to ride the 138 when riding bidings
anyways would love to hear what you like or dislike about bindings
cheers

Absolutely love them, more control, easier to hold an edge, no body dragging back to board after simple stacks. But I wouldnt bother riding them on a board that isnt designed for them(mine atm feels like turd when riding it with bindings)Only bugger is getting them on and off plus the added wight.
Thanks

think I might have to go out and buy some

I was thinking easy access and light weight

i got a binding specific* board.
130 with size XXxxxxxxx...L (specially made) bindings.
they are good at some stuff and bad at others, i have two boards but the bindings are designed to come off and be replaced with straps very quickly (no glue CF foot plat mtd pads)
ryland is selling a pair cheap (best) but if ya have larger feet then you will probably have to go new and some are mega $$$ the ones i ride retail at 350 i think, it was that last season.
only con is that you have to sit down to put them on, i liked the jump on and ride thing with out getting wet at peli but some beaches you can get away with doing it on the sand and riding into the surf.
i will put a pic of it on soon

how do bindings go in the surf?
do they put heaps of strain on the knees?
i find i turn my feet a lot in straps in the surf and imagine this is impossible in boots. do you just edge harder?

yeah i ride bindings in the surf they are great! but you gotta make sure you put them in exactly the right position for yourself or otherwise they feel ****ed, oh they also will feel pretty **** on anything under 136 by 40.
p.s. just buy a decent pair no point wasting money on a crap pair, best are crap.

i ride bindings, i dont really need them as such but i just like em. I use mine in surf also but i think straps are better if your wanting to surf the waves rather than just jump them. If you do go to bindings be prepared to find them a pain in the ass for a while and they are **** in marginal conditions IMO.
I had Unions and recently changed to Escalades. I actually found the unions easier to get in and out of, the escalades look pimp but not sure if they are worth the extra $$$.

I ride bindings on a 120 finless board and it rips i get heaps of pop from the board and can edge so freakin hard, when i ride a finned board now i find it harder to edge and pop and stuff, what im saying is there is no size limitations for bindings and boards its all in the setup and rider...

hey shags do you ride finless out the beach if theres little waves about as well??
also is the board meant to be finless or you've just taken em out....if you've taken em out did you fill the screw holes or just not worry about em
thanks

yeah the first time i rode in surf i was suprised how well she went, i have very thin flexy tips on the board and yeah she was designed as a finless board, we put fins in for a comparison for a bit and she felt like a pig, way too stiff on transitions and turns. I can still kite boost as big as anyone else on the board too

the old girls about 380mm wide
i have lf union l-xl bindings on her with no problems
both your boards should be fine for bindings just play with the setup
also the wider the stance the more stability you will have

yeah man, your element should be sick for bindings... Let us know how you go on both boards!
I'm about 65kgs, used to use em on my element 128 but i needed to be super lit to get it to work. but once the wind is up... this board rocks! otherwise its a dog! The stance was also too narrow... I might just T-bolt the damn thing.
just got a cab custom 138.... Its f..King HUGH for my size at 65kgs but so far so good... nice comfy ride and doesn't feel that big in the water! but I;m still trying to get used to it.

I used to wear bindings but I found they started getting a little uncomfy in the surf. I put my foot straps back on with a customised rubber heel strap. Works a treat and I am still in perfect fluidity (if thats a word) with the board.

ive riden bindings fore 6 years, most ryders only use bindings if they like to basickly go wakeboarding with a kite , and like to do wake style tricks , most riders that come from wakeboarding background feel more at home in what there used to riding in , but as u said most people use the 138, it depends on ur weight ,u might get away with the 133, the biger board works betetr 4 wake because ur not using the kite to lift u ur using tention built up between the load of ur edge and the kite and ur usally going alot faster , abiger board works better because under load it has more pop ,u go higher with out the kite lifting u . then because ur not landing soft floating down .the biger board lands softer being larger , so the biger board 4 wake style riding serves a purpose , the bindings help landing with extra speed and load as landing wake style tricks are alot harsher than if u were to float down from a lofty jump , unles ur doing hell man down loops on the way down , some dudes do ! so unless ur dedicated to wake style riding, straps are probably beter over all , hope i helped , jase

Hey Guys.
Im really keen to get a pair of bindings but I heard that they make kiting way more dangerous. Is this true? Do people f*** up knees when 1 foot comes out? etc
Cheers
