the end of one of my strut bladders has ripped a bit. size of half a smartie but its stretched as well.

I dont think a normal patch repair would hold up , would it? its stretched , not flat.

thinking I could get it sealed/fused together. who can do that? any repair shops in melbs that could do it quick?

could use the "bush man's" method (tie a secure knot at end), but not desperate yet

thanks

Hi,
If the hole is right at the end you can probably do it yourself with a iron, some baking paper and a small piece of wooden dowel.

-Place the down underneath the bladder perpendicular to the length, before the hole.
-Place the baking paper on top of the bladder
-Run the iron over the baking paper to seal the bladder.

Make sure the iron is not set to hot though.

I have done this a few times with good results......or if you have access to one of those bag sealers... that will do the job nice and quick!

Tear Aid will fix it in minutes, use a patch that covers the stretched area.
Remember, that its the cloth or dacron part of the bladder that takes the load, does not matter if the bladder is stretched a bit.

Type A is the stuff, every kiters should have some, it will repair sails and bladders.

Try RPS in Elwood if that is near you. I put a kite for a bladder repair and got it back next day so I was pretty happy. Don't know if they were cheap or expensive though, nothing to judge it by. Cost me $20.
