i want to buy a second hand board about $350-450 to last me for a couple of years? what does everyone recommend? I have ridden the underground flx and would like to get a similar board (137cm) but i prefer a plain graphic.

how much do you weigh? don't be too phased about graphics, worry about performance

75kg

i usually ride a 13m
with view to get a 7 m
and maybe a 19?

i am currently riding an airush square one and have just started to wave ride and launch reasonably high if I get a ramp (hard to jump off nothing). I used a small board the other day it must have been more than half the weight of my square one, it felt like there was nothing underneath my feet . comfy pads and straps (no rubbing)
i have read that the underground simple design is the way to go??

Also .. my square one has a fin in the middle of the board on the heal side rail, should i take that off?

Hey,

Remove the fin on the SQ1 it will be nicer to ride. I always found the board tends to round up on that fin. Certianly you would have outgrown that board and should maybe try to sell it on to someone else about to start learning.

A new board will make the world of dfference to your riding. Check out the 135 Protoy by Airush, also the 135 or 142 Switch. If it is choppy go the Protoy, it has a wickedly smooth ride and good upwind.

Hope this helps,

thanks for the tip kitehard

I was thinking about keeping the sq1 as my larger 2nd board .. it is a perfect learner board but is it any good for an experienced kiter in lighter winds (or is it to heavy)?

Windgoinoff.
Try addiction kiteboards, they sell from SOS in freo. Brand new, pads, straps handle fins etc etc etc for less than $800.

friend of mine has a 142 flx, but had a try on an addiction, he loved it said the ride was real forgiving.

there actually isnt a huge amount of diff between the two, except $$$$

I like the look of those addiction boards

maybe pete from addiction can tell me if there is any 132cm 2nd hand ones for around $500 lying around?

Do I just go and buy a board that i like (the look of) or does everone recommend testing the board first?

I live in a regional area so it is hard to test different gear. We seem to get the latest technology gear filter through 18 months later. Still yet to see a "bow kite" at my local spot.

Test em.
Test as many as you can, whenever you can.
Ask in shops most have demo boards or go to the beach and ask people there most are friendly.

sorry,
even though i just bought a new board (sx130 2005) I am going to keep the sq.1.
Seems like popular board as I have had a few enquiries and I did not even say I was going to sell it. thanks for the offer though

Taveray,
I've got a Square One that I used to learn on, then used to teach my GF. Now that we're both beyond it, I'll sell it to you if you like. Send me an email and we can work something out. Where are you located? I'm in Hervey Bay in QLD.
