do you need to ride unhooked to ride a board well in the surf? and does that still hold if ya on a bow

also what is the deal with riding a strapless board. It must be rush to be able to do it, but is there any actuall benefit to wave riding. What can you do with a board with foot straps than with a board without. Is the feeling just more pure or something? Is it worth getting into? please i am only after views from kiters that can actually do it[}:)]

I have not done much kite surfing in the surf, what condition are the best for narrowneck. I had a great time last week! I am keen for more

The best kite to ride surf is a ......... kite and you should have it ...... but not too much.

Riding a ............ board is far better way as you have ......... fo the ..... but have fun either way.

Dont ride narrowneck caus you will have to put up with the jehovas and Bloody Farkin D.K. Narrowneck i find only works well on a windy day and i think you should pick me up and do some d'windas - for this i will not charge :-)

you dont need to ride unhooked and you dont need to ride strapless but it comes down to style, the feeling and just learning something new.
the reason for riding unhooked is you can stretch out and get pulled thru ur arms rather than thru your hips, which with a surfboard can put you off balance and looks a bit crap really.
try it, it feels heeps better.
also when you are goin down the line it stops the kite from luffing out as it is fully powered up and lines tight.

the reason for strapless , well there are many but to most it is just the free feeling and being able to move your feet around for different things.
takes a while but just fun to learn again and it is a real challenge!!

the thing with straps on a surfboard is you either set them up down the middle but then look at surfing and your front foot is never in the middle really, or you set them up for either goofy or natural riding.
all just down to preference and fun really.
chances are you will end up like most of us and hangin up the twinnie in the garage for good...

yea cool thanks caution, appreciate that. But i still love the flat water action. i am keen to try in the surf with no straps but not just yet i was wondering about that, how do you go left on a northerly? if ya unhooked can you go down wind on the wave.

Paulio thanks for that informative answer. Yea a down winder would be sick i got that awfull feeling though, been no wind for ages. This is it huh? Another season over already?

YES DEF GO DOWNWIND UNHOOKED ON A WAVE.
the best is doing a downwinder on a sufboard unhooked at beachies so u can just keep smacking it for as long as u go.

you can also go the bow style and just sheet out once on the wave and use the thruster & wave power to ride then power up kite if u wanna use it to do arials or somethin
