I,m coming to live on the Gold coast this year, "oh no not another pomm" i hear you all say!!!
anyway before i purchase a new quiver for 08 in the uk, what brands are people using on the Gold coast . The last thing i want is to buy new kites and not be able to sell em when i,m there.
Am i safe with Airush, royal Era or Flexifoil?
from what i.ve read Best seems popular

Of the 3 you mention, Flexi is well supported.
Maybe PM me and compare prices before you lugg kites halfway across the world?

Hey Nemo,

Welcome to Queensland soon!

There are two main kite brands which are prominent around Brisbane currently.
Liquid Force + BEST.

There are some Flexifoil kites around as well, Airush and Era are not popular however.

For the Gold Coast, I wouldn't be 100% certain who is riding what, but register at SEQKA when they are up and running again, otherwise I'm certain some Goldy guys will reply back here.

Sunshine Coast - North of Brisbane

On Saturday I saw heaps of Slingshot REV's - North always has a good following here and Cabrinha has a good following.

Have only seen a couple of Airush, no royal Era and maybe a couple Flexifoil.

In terms of resale, don't worry about Queensland - I sell my kites on the Buy & Sell section of this forum and have sold kites to people from other states - it only costs about $25 to post a kite. Have a look on the Buy & Sell section and look for the most popular brands there - there are kites that sell and kites that don't sell. So maybe you should change your topic to what sells on Seabreeze and what doesn't.

Kites 14m and over are really hard to sell.

The new airrush Vapor 2 sounds like a great kite and will probably have a good resale on Seabreeze.

North is always a safe bet, with great re-sell value also. If you are moving permanently out here, I am pretty sure that if you buy the kites in the U.K. keep the receipts and you can claim the 17.5% tax back at the airport. But this is only if you have a residents visa. I know it works if you are traveling the opposite way so well worth investigating.

We are the Flexifoil dealer on the Gold Coast.
We do trade in on kites, boards & harnesses and also offer a consignment service. We also sell Best, Liquid Force, Takoon, Nobile & more.
You may find that with your exchange rate you may be better to purchase here in Australia than in the UK. Assuming you will be arrive here before you need new kites. Send us an email if you want to check some quiver prices.

Takoon are also arriving on the coast but like everyone says the market is dominated with Cabrinah, North, Best, Liquid Force and Slingshot. Any of those you'll get support with.

All I can say is don't rely on seabreeze for accurate wind reports up here, it's rarely accurate as we have our own wee micro climate going on!!! The last 7 days we've had fabulous wind but we can also go through no wind periods of just the same or longer. My partner weighs about 70kg and rides a 12m switchblade 3 the majority of the time. I weight 62kilos and ride a 9m Takoon Furia.
