Can someone let me know the best places to kite at bribie and what conditions are needed.

Was thinking bongaree area might be ok in the sw winds predicted for this weekend?

Hey Allkind I used to live on Bribie and sailed and windsurf there. The wind can be quite flukey around the Banksia Beach area of the passage, so avoid that in less it is a howling SSW to W. Good flat water
Red beach is a good spot for E to SE. The area you are talking about will work well on a S to SW, possibly W if it is blowing hard enough. Good flat water.
From NE to SE Woorim is the go, and if there is a swell running, you'll get uncrowded wave kiting. If you want to get decent waves and you have a 4WD head up the beach.

I haven't had the chance to kite Bribie since I left (I took up kiting after leaving) but Bribie has the potential to be all time and completely uncrowded when the conditions are right.

they give you any reason? was there any signs?

seriously whats the ranger going to do... just dont go in when he comes, its not like he can swim across the passage to Caloundra. How rediculous though, ytf is it banned anyway?

Did you end up giving it a crack at Bribie? I am probably heading up there on the weekend of the 28-29th and am keen as to have a kite... I've only been riding in the surf on open beaches so I'd be interested to see what the east side of the island is like with a little bit of swell protection from Moreton island...

Hey Walshy,

I still havent got a proper board yet, just been borrowing a 152cm Liquidforce twintip from my boss who has been kind enough to let me use if for a while :D But the board made a massive difference I gotta say! I was starting to go ok on my surfboards strapless but after losing a board it was a bit of a setback. Once I got on the LF my missus couldnt believe how much more confident I was riding so for the last few weeks I've been belting away on the LF but Im hopefully buying a 2nd hand North Dragon 135 x 39 on the way to Bribie which I'm hoping will complete my learning process until I decide that I have actually got the abilities to warrant a $1000 board!

Still loving this sport though, I've only busted a couple of boosts so far and absolutely loved the feeling of the extended air and the soft landing!!! :D I have a lot more technique to pickup but I'm happy that I'm comfortably riding upwind either toeside or heelside and turning under power (turning downwind). Actually, I still havent really worked out how to turn any other way than under power... I personally think turning the kite the other way and just going backwards switch looks really crap compared to a big arc under load!
