i'm experimenting a bit and building a marine ply kiteboard. i have all the necessary equipment but am having trouble sourcing the female threaded inserts for the handle and footstraps. I don't really care which type i will use just as long as they will be well fixed and won't rust. Obviously have to be stainless i'm guessing. Live in SA and would appreciate some help if anyone knows where to purchase such items from, (hopefully in Adelaide). Any other building tips welcomed.
P.S. Have tried Coventry fasteners but no luck.
Thanks.

Maybe Glascraft Marine at the Bell Tower complex on South Rd or Binks Marine at Brighton.

I bought some nice brass ones from a fella on this forum. He had a stack of them and was selling them for something like $2 each. Well worth the money as they are nicely machined and have stuck inside my homebuilts very well. He might pop up and reply to this thread.

You could try Bolt In at Oxenford (Gold Coast) if you do no good locally. Maybe they could post them down for you. I have purchased 6mm SS Tee nuts from them a few times and found them quite reasonable price wise. Cheers, Warren

just thought i pop up i have still got some of the inserts left i,am in w.a but its not a problem to post them just email if you want any or you can use stainless tee nuts but they will be up to $5 each and you can easily screw the bolt thought the board but if you are careful they work fine

Hi Kaos69, sounds like you might have what i am looking for. Tried a few placestoday but the best i could do was chatting to someone about inserting built up fibreglass to drill into. Does this mean that the inserts you have have a base on them? If so i'd be very interested in buying 10 of them if possible. Let me know. Thanks.

I used to use stainless T-Nuts but now just use ordinary steel ones.

If they are inside a fibreglassed board they last well. There are boards out there that I built years ago that are still in use.

I just give the thread a squirt of Lanoline spray before inserting the bolt.

Steel T-Nuts are only about 50c each.
