as the subject says....
recently got a 2005 spec 2, the bar has a spinning leash so i'm wondering if i engage the dick is there any chance of the chicken loop coming off? if there is obviously i'd be up **** creek as that is all that would be attaching me to the kite.
should i just attach the leash from the harness to the chicken loop? has anyone had any stories of coming unhooked inadvertantly whilst using the dick?

this is what it currently looks like: www.hugedomains.com/domain_profile.cfm?d=kitesurfari&e=com

I've got a similar system on my Gaastra Stealth. When you pull the emergency, you end up with the loop and dick attached to your harness and everything else goes up the line.

I can't see how a Dick would ever fail unless it had been shortened or something, or was really perished and broke off.

I've never had a problem, or heard of Dicks failing at all.

Trust in the force Luke.

i wouldn't have thought the chicken loop could come off with the dick properly in place at the original length. just wanted to make sure.
bring on the weekend then!!

hey hosko
I had a camel dick system that fell out a few years ago. It is definitely not fun because it can a really hard to get it back on.
Make sure that when you move the chicken loop around (i.e. before setting up your kite etc), the tongue is long enough not to come out. Rotate the system in all directions...360 degrees, up down, side to side. IF it doesn't fall out then your all good.
how your exams going?
cheers

Had a mate whose dick failed.........no pun intended.

The bit of material holding the dick wore away and it popped when kiting at the Abrolhos about 400m from where that guy was taken by the Tiger shark.

The kite was 2kms away by the time we got to it with the tender after I dragged the guy in with his board.

The was no way in a million years I would have thought that it would wear where it did.

Lesson of the day - check your gear.....and never trust your dick. Mine has gotten me into heaps of trouble because I listened to it. :)

Top 3 reasons why a donkey dick is bad:

#3 - if a guy has a donkey dick, he lies when he says he loves you
#2 - if a girl has a donkey dick, you are about to get more than you bargained on
#1 - never trust a real male donkey - he knows how to use it!

sorry what was the question?

Thats the same chickenloop (and bar) as on the cab recon I. The donkey dick is ****ing useless and will release. Its not long enough when the chickenloop stretches when loaded. I would be carefull with that loop. Get an old fixed loop/windsurfing harness, and go for the reverse donkey dick. Or use some stiff zip ties.

Hi Hosko

I actually don't use the donkey dick that is attached to the chicken loop. I have a seperate one that is attached to my harness which ensures that it can fall out. I will see if I can get a photo of it this weekend. I think it is a much better option if you want to keep your kite attached

I attach one to the loop if you want to unhook its good
I also use it becouse i have had the chicken loop sort off slide out of the hook yes its still on becouse of the dick but then when the power comes back on the dick bends and the loop comes out if that makes sense so i keep a saftety atached to the chicken loop

remeber kiddies - there WILL be a time when you want to get rid of the kite so make sure you can release whatever system you have while it is under load

Someone said to me that other day that if your chicken loop doesn't have a dick you can use an extra large cable tie and secure it around cross piece . I have some cable ties that are about as thick, almost as rigid and several times longer than the real thing.
My dickless mate has borrowed my chicken loop (which has a dick) while I'm recovering, and I was going to give him a cable tie when I get it back. I suppose it could work. Has anyone else has tried it and can confirm it's a good/bad idea?

Seen several post with people using cable ties on kiteforum. They were also good if you like to unhook, then you can twist the cable-tie so that it is pointing the otherway and will not be in your way when you want to hook and unhook.

Ahem....

Let's not be so crude with kite terminology.

The proper name for the keeper is Chicken-Bone.
