On wednesday (12th jan) i had my ute stolen from brighton beach car park about 6pm, broad daylight.

somehow the thievs broke into my hard cover which is where i had my car keys and took off with the ute, i have heard nothing about it so far.

In the back were 2 kites!!!
1. Brand new 2010 12m cabrinha switchblade (orange and black) in the bag with the bar, lines and pump
2. 2007 7m North Rhino (white with blue) in the bag with bar lines
3. pat love k-air youth size harness

also 2 surfboards: 6ft grubb fiber glass board and a 7ft star surf soft board yellow.

if anyone sees these kites for sale anywhere please notify me on 0433019892 or the police.

luckily i was out on the water using my 9m nomad so i still have something to use.

Sorry to hear man. I use a keypod and lock it under the car. Luckily it's worked so far. Good luck, hope you get it all back.

can you get a non electronic key cut (to use when surfing etc) or does the key have to be electronic..?

Devo for you mate...! I have had simular situation happen in the middle of summer, gutted, went out and bought all new gear. My heart goes out to man...!

Another option:

3x Glad Zip Lock bags

Seal the 1st with your key in it
Place the 1st bag in the 2nd and 2nd in the 3rd bag - done.

Take your key with you in the water (secured in your boardies pocket)

Have used this technique last 2 years at Scarbs never had an issue.

Just a thought, more than eyeballing them, if there are a few of you on the beach (backup is a wonderful thing) be upfront and take photos of them and their car. Make it obvious that you will use technology, mates, and the cops to deter and identify them.

Remember to upload the photos if you can too, 'cause if they steal your camera with their photos on it, it's no good.

havent heard anything about the car or any of the gear in it so far i have a feeling the car is long gone. the only thing i can do is hope the stupid fools try to sell the two kits online or somewhere because almost all the kiters in the country have read this post judging by the amount of people that i spoke to this arvo at scabs.

i think ill be purchasing one of those combination locks you can lock to a tow bar.
the only thing im worried about is they are quite obvious, thievs could see that, come back 10 mins later with bolts cutters and there in!

yeah always check your policy before you ring insurance just make some anon enquiries about a 'new policy' to be sure 'if this was to happen how would that effect my policy'....

at the end of the day they're a business.

My other tip is to call across caparks to your mates about theives being in the area. Make it super obvious that your suspicious of everyone.

Or get a crap car so noone wants to steal it. I've had no back window for months and my car is there every time
