none of this lame arse "i would rather see someone stomp a back to revert or a front roll with power and style than see some of the other pkra blokes dangle on thier monkey bars" Now stop making excuses and get out there and ride hard! or stop your bleeding and go home

kiteboarding is good for going big, i hate seeing riders dangle one handed from their handle bars to drop in the water and sink then ride off. ruben has the right idea as to where we need to go

i couldnt agree more! i dont see the point of this low level tecky stuff when you could send the kite and do the same trick 30 feet in the air.

I'm not going to try and kick off this whole debate about what is the real style of riding or whatever. Everyone has their own progression and gets enjoyment out of the sport in their own way.
However, it is NOT the same trick being done if you send the kite and do it 30 feet in the air as you say. It is far more difficult to do these tricks/handlepasses with the kite low and powered. I'm sure you already knew this but you can't compare doing a trick with the kite sent and having the kite low.
Apples and Oranges.

DEFINITELY AGREE WITH DAMO!

Kiting is its own sport and we should be trying push this limits of what is possible in this sport. Doing wakestyle tricks with the kite really low and powered is very technical and difficult, but its not kiting, its a poor man's wakeboarding.

The way to define and push this sport forward is by using the power of the kite to do all the wakestyle tricks 30ft up! That is something totally unique to kiting and nothing will ever be able to copy it!

Since when were 30ft high powered kiteloop handle-pass tricks easy anyway??

If they were that easy everyone would be doing them, and not all doing low level wake style.

30foot Kiteloop 7's get my vote over a 3 foot wake style move.

Keep kiting progressing!

have you ever seen a short rope used at cable???? im pretty sure this is just like doing a kite loop it looks the same, they also pull off silly dangly wake tricks when doing this but they know its just a joke and do it for a laugh.
so hate to say it but doing tricks like this 30ft up has been done at cable as well. each to thier own i guess, anyone can do what they want but people who can do both know what is harder and generally arent on here complaining about it. i guess you could say im bored.

I think everyone has got their niche and you don't want to be a sheep just because you want to be cool. I think proper wakestyle moves are difficult to fully appreciate and if your going to mention height as part of your arguement then you don't really understand the key concept. What ever floats your boat, only thing that annoys me is the hybridisation of it into something completely different (i.e using the kite for softer landings, more height, longer time) and then the person claiming that they are killing it. If you are going to send your kite so be it do it fully or not at all.

The reason I like wakestyle better is just the feel of tricks when they are landed properly, lines going slack etc. It is also loads harder so keeps you occupied and ages just to dial one trick. The landings can be a lot worse than a kiteloop, I like the risk element. It is like seeing someone do a backflip into a foam pit on a motor bike or see one do one off a ramp, it is the same trick but I get a bigger buzz watching it done over hard ground. Another reason is that there are still soo many tricks yet to be landed properly on a kite. When I see a perfectly executed wake move or someone hucking it with their own unique interpretation of the trick it gives me soo much more stoke than someone doing it half arsed 99999 times.

But yeah kiting is diverse so naturally people are all going to want to do things different.

Yep yep yep - all the way for mine.
Kiting is/should be kiting not copy-catting anything. With power and height available freestyle should be pushing moves way beyond anything that is possible low & behind a boat - not trying to imitate. Im sure if wakeboarders could get height they would soon be doing a whole lot of different moves and calling anything low totally gay.
Same for surfing - the trend toward kitesurfing like a boardrider is ignoring what can be done with a kite and a wave. If you are not using your kite to work the wave then it all it is is kite-in surfing - not kitesurfing.

Top level kiters should be going places others cant even dream of.

Difference is though Puppet is and that you can't perform wakestyle moves properly and get that sort of height, unless of course you use a wave or something to launch off of. When you use the kite for lift you can't slacken the lines(unless you kiteloop) and the power of the kite pulls your arms up above your body so you can't do the trick properly. Then theres the softer landings from it and decreased speed of the landings(generally). Soo you can't really do wakestyle tricks high up. I think kiteloop passes are fine when they are done well, but they do tend to get butchered (kiteloop 7 was good).

Depends on what you enjoy about the sport. I like tricks that look like they are going to really hurt if you stuff them up. Obviously there is a big air attraction, and for many people that is what got them into the sport.

To me it is about being pleasing to watch and a big part of that is to see how much fun the rider is having....it is about style, both damo and space have it.
