if u can get ur gear out to the silong club can ride back and forth
otherwise a car is ~300 week ask for jaws
u could be lucky and windsurfers fed off by then
we went late last year and they had all gone , apparently a bit of aggro july
watch the weight as they can be inclined to charge XS baggage, doesnt seem much logic if do or don't, over 25kg at perth and you are likely to get hit
sunscreen + hat (fcs make good one) a must
we had cranking 8ft surf on last day,a good way to finish

Yep - if we went again, we'd splash out for a car .. you can ride/walk but the novelty wears off pretty quick - especially if you're riding the bike into a 20 knots headwind while gagging to get out on the water! .. Mask and flippers if you can - some awesome reef diving to be had .. and ... sunscreen.

If your into your fruit and vegies take as much as you can because the cost of perishables is full on!
Direction island is a must see.The drift dive there has to be seen.
Take booties, you will be walking on lots of reef.
Enjoy you lucky bugga.

Oh....and if your into fishing take a rod and lots of poppers.
Go to the jetty at night and cast them around the light, the G.T.s
absolutely smash them!
If you do get on to one and you will, get it in quick cause the sharks will be all over it.
The nights I fished there the place was teeming.Manta Rays cruise through,Turtles, sharks and not to mention the massive G.T.s.
Get a car!I imagine it would be quite difficult riding back to town on your pushie at night with an 18 kg G.T. on the handle bars, fishing gear strapped to your back and a few bevies under the belt.
Bloody funny though.
Enjoy!

just got back from my second trip in a row. The palce is sick, we had 12 days of two to three kites a day out of 14, surfed the other 2. We copped three swells in a week, those that surf and kite the place is ideal. The local crew are unreal, the beer is cheap and there is always someone to drink with. If you want a car go see the pirate (Geoff) and he will sort you out, the last thing you want is to ride back after kiting for 4 hours. The wind is now constantly around 20 knots, we used 15's the first week (I am 80kg's) and 9's the second. If you can kite you will be able to kite all day, it is only on the lowest tides (less than 20cm) that you can't until it turns. If you have no one to kite with hook up with Geoff (from shell) and steve (the local constabulary) and they would be happy to do a downwinder with you.

There was no problem between the kiters and the pole boarders, in fact there was hardly a pole boarder around this year, I was there last July and it was still pretty cool. I think next year Zephyr will have it all sorted and a specific kite beach set up.

Definately take your mask and snorkel, the drift dive on DI is sick, it will cost you $2 to get across on the ferry which leaves at 930am and returns at 330pm from the jetty.

Anyway that should hopefully help you out, if you luck out and get a crew like the one we just had over there, then you will have a sick time. Good work Jen and Hally from zephyr.

cheers for all that info, gilly how did you go getting all your gear on the aircraft. By the looks of it i have to take kite gear, surfboard, dive gear and fishing gear!!? What winds do they usually get late august, I only have a 12m so hoping its not going to be too strong.
