Come up to Bowen instead. better riding here. QB and front beach have flat water. pretty sure conway is pretty choppy.

I agree with Tv. Bowen has much cleaner water and the conditions are usually better. I'll be heading to Bowen June/July for a mid winter kite. Won't bother heading out to Conway's on the way past though.
Look up Crocodile tours in the Whitsundays and you'll find the river that runs out next to Conways is where they are held. Danger! Probably still a risk of stingers at Easter also.
That said, if you can't get to Bowen, Conway's offers some opportunity to get on the water. There's a bit of shallow stuff straight in front of the beach at mid tide that can be fun. Chrs, W

Don't let them scare you Matt. Conway's can be brilliant. Take a big kite because the wind isn't usually as strong or reliable as Bowen. As for bities, it's pretty open and very shallow so it would be very hard for a croc to sneak up on you there. Stingers aren't bad around easter, although it is wise to wear stinger protection. I kited the area in just boardies year round for two years without any problems, as do almost all the locals. Have fun and be sure to drop in to Paddy Shenanigins in Airlie Beach for grab a granny.
