If you join AKSA you get insurance - pretty worth it if you are in a crowded area

Does AKSA insurance cover personal injury or is it just for third party liability?

Hi Peeps,

AKSA insurance is just 3rd Party property and person and only whilst in Australia. For accident insurance and death or disability cover you can buy IKO Insurance it covers you for accident, disability, rescue/salvage costs, death and personal indemnity also.

You are covered from the minute you take the gear out of the boot and start walking down the beach until you put the gear back in the car again after your session. It is also worldwide coverage.

Only third party, and with a pretty high excess (read the policy in the AKSA website).
For personal injury, you have to take it with your life insurance, however it will "rocket" your premium to the skyies, if they will acccept to insure you!!!!
That's the reality. If you are in a high risk, "extreme", elite sport, you have to bear the "expenses" too: equipment, travel, fees and .... now even to get on the beach you have to pay for the parking.
You have to have reaaaaaly deeeeep pockets.
A "healthy life style" today is a luxury.

Hey Peeps,

Tha AKSA and WAKSA do not accept IKO insurance for you to enter events in Australia. There is nothing wrong with the policy, in fact it is much more comprehensive however they need the members. So support your WAKSA and take the IKO insurance if you want personal cover as well or if you travel with your kiting gear, it makes sense to take out IKO coverage.

Booman, for you, you must find an IKO instructor and then take the insurance test. You stand on one leg, eyes closed with extened arms and touch your nose with the tip of your index finger, whilst he dips into your pocket removes your wallet and takes a weeks pay from you for his inconvenience. Then you must say the alphabet backwards whilst patting your head and simultaneously rubbing your stomach in anti-clockwise circles whilst he replaces your empty wallet.

For everyone else, you can ask any reasonable IKO instructor to quickly certify your riding ability and give you a card which will probably cost you bugger all if anything. Then there you go.

It is simple and easy to get, you just can't cut corners on safety.

Good winds,
