actually not really waterproof ... more splash proof just for taking the camera in the water and it gets a couple of sprays.. i found one thats the full waterproof cover for my specific camera but its $900 .. which is more than i want to spend.. i guess im looking for just a generic plastic thing to keep it in :) any ideas? also got a jvc everio HD 40gig hardrive camera for sale never been used retail for 1099 selling 800 pm me

a home remedy version is just stick it in ziplock bag, and stick that in another one. then make sure theres no air in the bags and make sure u can see clearly through the lens without the plastic obstructing your view. thats more of a finger in the dyke fix though.

try ebay, my bro got a sweet canon and waterproof cover for $400. best deal ive ever seen.

yeah AquaPac are the way to go, use one with my digicam. works pretty good.

aquapac.net/

or try EWA-Marine they have something similar but better quality. I use their SLR housing for photography in the surf.

www.ewa-marine.com/english/index.htm

hope that helps

what about one of these? http://www.pentax.com.au/pentax/index.cfm?pageID=2&modelID=16&CFID=572&CFTOKEN=51960661

I recently purchased one on ebay for $230 with 2GB card and an extra battery. You can see some of the pics I've taken with it here www.flickr.com/photos/32013041@N00/sets/72157600317271406/show/

Ultimately I am going to set it up for this www.camrig.com/photos.php

Riding with the mp3 player would probably be dangerous! I remember listening to that song "danger zone" as a kid on my bmx riding like a nutcase to the music. People that saw me mustve though i was an A.D.D. kid high on coke-a-cola and snorting sherbits as i pumped the peddles at a million miles an hour dodging people on footpaths and jumping off gutters. I still remember the look on the busdrivers face as I rode in front of his bus doing a mono.

Have a look at www.fantasea.com
I got a housing for my camera about 3 years ago for around $200 new. They gave warrranty for the camera inside the housing as well as the housing. Never once had a problem with it, dropped it quite a few times and all good. Got Teds camera house to order it in for me.

I can totally agree there echo, I have done the same thing many times but on my skatey.
Id be riding thru the suburbs while listening to reggae, really relaxed skating, just crusing thru traffic...of course id fall off in front of a car, and they would brake hard...and id be like "What? hellooo im skating here..."

If you want a point and shoot instant camera that is for the beach get a $400-500 Olympus 770SW (the one with the add with it in the dogs mouth) they actually take pretty good pics and movie mode means you can stick it up in your kite for about 30 mins.

if you want to waterproof an SLR camera I have a ewa-marine SLR dive bag/housing, its a tough bag system that can dive to ~30M, holds camera and a flash, great for a few grands worth of SLR on the beach.

ewa-marine also sell bags for all type of video cameras.

if anyone is interested in the SLR housing I'm selling it because I don't use it anymore. PM if you like.
