I heard an old surfer's trick was to drink seawater, it might temporarily re-hydrate you and and the salt probably prevents cramping. Seawater even tastes good when you're thirsty and out on the water, so long as the water is clean. Does anyone do this or is it a myth?

A mouthfull or two isn't going to kill you, however it'll soon make you thirstier. Long term (life raft, lost at sea) it'll kill you fairly quickly as the kidneys can't process the salt. Years ago a few of us were stuck in a life raft off Freo for an hour so we tried it and it wasn't great.

If you're well hydrated beforehand you'd be better off drinking your own piss to keep hydrated.

Drinking salt water is used to induce vomiting. I drank a lot of seawater in the learning phase, (crashing & body dragging), and I found it effective at this

A bit hard to do that while kiting (although I am sure some try), wan't planning to get lost at sea, but if were to be I were miles away from land or doing a long dw I would carry a camelbak.

Yeah I do this already actually. Great way to avoid landing, parking, quick dash to a water tap. Just drink and kite! Is that even legal?
