I am thinking of going to exmouth as I have heard so much about how great the kiting is. Can anyone tell me when the best months to kite there are and what is the usual wind range. Thanks for any help you can give.
If you're going up in the winter months (june - august) when the weather is really nice, the sea breezes are light to non existent close to Exmouth.
If you head down the west side of the Cape a bit to Sandy Bay there is sometimes a light sea breeze, about 15 knots.
It's not exciting stuff but perfect smooth shallow water inside the reef, and clear as glass on white sand. Also, there is usually no one out.
Be careful close to the reef if the tide is going out as there are areas of fast rips that will take you out if you stack in.
I think it's also inside the National Park so it will cost, but then if you're up that way it's probably best to get a month pass anyway. They're cheap enough.
There are a few bays north of this but the further north up the cape you go, the lighter the breeze will be.
