Moving onto the vital consideration of fashion on the water.
In an effort to further widen the generation gap that has appeared in recent threads I pose the question - 'to wear or not to wear the boardies over the wetsuit'.
It appears that the youngsters answer to this question is 'to wear' and the oldies 'not to wear'
If true further important questions may be asked - Are the wearers hiding something? or hiding the fact that they have nothing to hide? are the non wearers devoid of style?

it's more about personal preference. I for one don't like wearing just a skin tight wetsuit and feel much more comfortable with my boardies on top.

SOMETIMES...harnesses and/or wetsuits dont have anything to secure your key to.
The youngsters of today are wearing the 'fashionable' items of clothing while the oldies stick to 'classics' whether that be wetsuits or boardies with suspenders to pull them up to nipple height. Those concerned about how to look fashionable usually turn to the youngsters as they are the future and are aware of fashions. In other words get used to it cause the youngsters know whats fashionable and are going to be kiting the longest AND will replace the oldies eventually. For those concerned about fashion, many find a quick glance at womens day, cleo or vogue while the missus isnt looking works a treat.
It may look gay but just remember that many women think brad pitt totally waxed and in a skirt is hot. Myabe theyre onto something...

mmm interesting
never saw any windsurfer or surfer with the boardies on top of their wetties!!
so surely there is a good reason special to kitesurfing?

the only one I could think of is the fact that you don't want to land the kite whenever you want a little break. SO HERE come the Baggy pants:
Baggy pants are usefull for filling up pockets with..pepsi max...chocolat bar..sun cream...cheeseburgers...mobile phone....screw driver..bus timetable...and F*** knows what!!!
of course !!! now it makes sense to me.....so how do ya oldies managed????
I think..i'll be a Baggy pants for now on

I just but boardies over the top to cover my legs because the wet suits go to far up it's like wearing realy small tight shorts it just feels and looks gay.
Just like those fat builder who wear realy tight shorts and lets it all hang out with sweat and fleshy white skin with real bad hair groth not a very nice sight to me.

Simple argument really, either you want to dress casual, or you wanna be "lycra man". Would you go to the pub looking like Ian Thorpe?
Also, shorts hide any rigidity should the wearer become excited. Last thing I want is for credible spectators to exclaim "Hey look, Boner's going for another 360!"

I use a seat harness and they wear on the wetsuit so I'd rather
wear out some 50 buck boardies than some 200 buck wettie.

Oh yeah, i also have a little sav!!!!!!!!!!

I reckon the fairer sex have the right to cover them selves for modesty purposes.

But for the life of me I've never been able to figure the logic of wearing your jammies down the beach.

I suppose it's easier to identify em, a bit like why certain people drive volvo's.

Now I'll take my 40yo bod with my potty and skinny legs, hop back on my wind surfer and await the flamers

Great surf out there, provided you don't mind frost bite.
