calm and the fisheries dept, working with locals are trying to set up some guidlines for kiting in the safety bay area. the main issues seem to be guys getting to close to the islands. also have been reports of penguins being injured(could be boats, kiters or windsurfers) a no kiting zone would be appreciated within 200 mtrs of the islands.
also some safety points we should all take on board.
1- boards are very light nowadays so i would suggest a pillowcase filled with sand as a better option. chuck it in your car at the end of each session.

2- kite lines should be disconnected if you are having a break. it only takes a couple of minutes to reconnect them. i would hate to see someone trip on your lines and have the kite launch itself.

overall it seems seems the local depts are happy with both kiters and w-surfers but just need to prepare for the future with this fast growing sport.
