Yesterday looked sick. Great winds, big waves. Put up my 8, had a bit of a run, felt a bit exposed out there (alone, low tide so the rocks were stuicking out between waves), and came in to land it. and here comes the freaky part. I dropped my board on the sand, as i normally would. But it being so windy, the board flipped sideways, hitting me in the ankle, and breaking it. POO!

Of all the injuries i'd anticipated, dropping my board on my foot wasn't one of them!

and the timing couldn't be better. I've just quit work to spend the next three months kiting...

See you on the water in 6 weeks

I also sailed Cott yesterday on my 7. I covered my kite with my board to stop the kite blowing away, and had the same problem that the board took off by itself. The kite stayed there because of the downforce.I luckily was standing upwind.

Hey weren't those rocks during the suck back of the waves NASTY?

It Hurts So Good!

Throwing it up wind is the natural way to do it. The kite low in the window to be abouit to land it, I would normally be facing the kite (ie across wind), with my downwnid hand on the bar, so the board in my up-wind hand, then throw it on the ground. Must have done it hundreds of times, and I suspect others do it the same way, so just bloody unlucky. Maybe I'll gently place it on the ground when I eventually get back on the water.

Thanks for the kind words, and bugger about the pec muscles
