Word is that cables water park is closing down, word 2, is that if you can transport the sliders from the park, the're yours. Anyone got a really large trailer or ute and wants to take a short trip from cables to woodies?

This has been rumoured to be closing down for years. It hasn't. I think its just a rumour.

If its not a rumour, how about we get everyone to chip in a few bucks, buy the cable, and mount it at the end of Pelican Point. It would have to be more viable financially, and we can play on whlle we are waiting for wind.

I would be keen to help out, im sure others will be keen to chip in a few bucks for transport and stuff. If it were put at Woodies would be have to get permission?

down in bunbury a couple of us have been thinking of making a portable one out of a couple of lengths of pvc pipe, set it up so it floats and is attached to a couple of anchors. that way we can take it away at the end of each session, no one accidentally runs into it and it only takes about 10 minutes to set up. does help though that we can walk out to set up, might be different in deep water. wouldn't want to swim out carrying a few bricks.

Go for it! I think if there is anywhere on the metro coast that we have any chance of getting permission for a slider it would be up in the corner at woodies, you cant see it from the road, its not a swimming beach and is only really used by kiters, plus its too shallow in the corner for boats anyhow.

great trip thanks shannon
cept for no wind apart from howling easterlies
only joking !! it was great most of the time - most common was NE & NW & SW 16>18 kts and the territory absolutely awesome for kiting - crystal clear shallow lagoons with flat water up to 25 kts and even then just sloppy wind chop.
Only real bummer was returning early with an infection after spending a few nights with a couple of local nurses ....
in the local hospital - full length steamers and booties the only way to go up there - despite the warm water - the coral bites big time
not up to it yet but I reckon the constant break on the outside of the reef would be next best thing to heaven for all you wave riders -maybe next year

missed the point shannon - the coral caused the discomfort & hence the nights with the nurses (just to set the record straight).
Stayed at "Lakeside" in Cape Range nat. park. Kited mostly right there but also met up with Jason (fulltilt) for one sesh at "Sandy Bay" (also in the park).
Heard from locals that theres quite a few kiters in Exmouth who regularly work the easterlies inside the gulf which saves the drive round to the west side.
Pretty much anywhere from Coral Bay north (4 wheel drive only) is lagoon type bays with outer reef usually within a km of the beach but driving thru Exmouth around the point and back south is all sealed road with about 60k's of accessable beaches on the west side.
CALM rangers service camp sites in the dunes all the way along for only $5 pp per night and fresh water is available at one pump in the park.
Its an awesome place for coral, fish, gorges (for walkers) etc etc not to mention the kiting

Glad to have generated some interest, sounds like Phil is the man with the large trailer, willing to lend time and muscle, some cash too if needed. Suggest pulling slider up onto beach when finished......

I'd still really like to see the cable relocated to the end of Pelican Point ;-)
