Problem is, theres not too much excitement and partying hard when it comes to making a quilt or the odd cross stitch!!!

sorry i know it was a typo, but had to take the piss just the same, i use to kite up your way a few years ago and actually found it a great welcoming crew, with many a bbq and beer after a good arvo session at brighton. hope it hasnt turned into most other locations!

I get your drift, once a reasonable level of skill unassisted is there, out you go solo when it suits.
The DZ open the bar when every one is down safe and high as a kite, go yacht racing the presentation is as much fun as on the water, play with motor bikes possible solo but more fun in a group, there are well founded clubs to most sports out there, kites haven't got there yet.(not locally anyway)
WSC started 40 Y-ago in a beach shelter, and it takes more than the competitors to make a club don't give up, regional groups facing off from time to time can't be a bad idea F-nose how to pick the winner at the end of the day, a raffle would probally be fairer, no judges or handicappers.
I would know of less than a quarter of the Whitsunday - Bowen kiters, there are the numbers out there connecting is the first jump,then a willingness treat it as a team sport from youngsters to veterans if any of those exist.(U 45)
Any regional groups that think this is a fair idea where you can get home in the same day could be a good start as intrest developes the format would also have to move and challenge a wider group.
A common direction in a less solo attidue in central Qld would be a dream, politics and all.
