Anyone see it?

They had a piece on kitesurfing with some old guy trying to be cool with kite pants.

I especially liked the bit where he had his so called environmentally friendly truck driving on the beach and then into the water at about 40k's an hour. Real environmentally friendly driving a 5tonne truck through a city beach.

Yeah saw it what a clown. When the reporter was body draggin i thought he was going to reach orbit or hit that lovely rock groyne just down wind of him.

Try and promote the sport so they find "Mr Kitesurfing Australia" what a role model not!

That particular truck is notorious on the East Coast - the driver, well he's far less environmentally friendly.

Don't worry the show has now been axed!!
Shame, as aside from macho George (the leg up on the table style talk to camera went out with wing tip collars) and the occasional ill-informed kitesurfing article the show was quite good, esp the articles out of Perth.
Oh well if anyone has an upper-lip-hairy-caterpiller and is looking for a new gig to assert your macho man stylee - apply to the ABC care of Russel Balding (GenMgr) ASAP!
In the mean time maybe rent Strsky & Hutch for a similar experiance...

Cheers

Didnt see the article, but it does sound like Alex Sanz & his vegie powered Mitsubishi Canter 4WD truck.

I'll stick up for Alex - you never know what was shot & then ended up on the editors floor - probably skipped all the safety stuff and just showed some action for a 5 min grab.

Personally I have met Alex and spent some time with him on no-wind days looking over video shoots and discussing kiting amongst other things. He is a very likable individual, who is passionate about life and his kiting. He is not your typical hairy chested gung hoer, but someone who has introduced a lot of people to kiting in a safe, friendly and enthusiastic manner.

He gets my vote

Actually... if there are any camera people out there they will probably defend the guy as well.
I didn't see the show and therefore proximity to rocks etc but depending on the angle and zoom on the lens the background can look a hell of a lot closer than reality.
Also the journo/editors do tend to bypass the sensible stuff in favour of eye candy 70% of the time on Aunty (100% on commercial TV).
What can I say we the public have.. very.. short... attention sp... sorry what was I on about?
Umm, now what was I looking for in the for sale section...

Cheers

Alex is a dangerous individual!!!
Ive seen him run out of town twice---------- Byron Bay and the Entrance, with a bit of biffo thrown in .
I was a bystander and I reckon he deserved it .
If you ask him he will tell you straight ----------- "I DONT GIVE A **** IF KITING GETS BANNED AT YOUR BEACH -- I'LL MOVE TO
ANOTHER ONE!"
