I am looking to install new safety gear into my existing setup but the problem is i dont know exactly what iv got. The seller has been no use and the only thing i know is that the bar is cabrhina.
The gear is around 03, so if you have been in the game for a while and know what it is, please help. Also if you have any ideas about what i should add/ swap within my setup to make it safer i would be appreciate it.

Hi Lex

What you have is a bar from an 03 Cabrinha CO2. I had one of these kites and is what I learned on.

Basically there is nothing you can do to make the bar safer. It's safe enough with the quick release on the chicken loop. What you do need is some sort of leash setup.
The kite that this bar came with had a system called recon. When you pull the quick release, the kite leash attached to you harness pulled the recon setup and the kite fell to the water depowered. Most kites nowadays have a setup where the leash is attached to a 5th line or one of the center lines that can slide through a ring.

From a previous post of yours that I replied to, I seem to remember that you have a Naish 03 kite. To make your setup safer with this bar you probably need to get a 5th line set up on your gear which will probably set you back about 100 bucks and also a kite leash. What will happen then is you connect your leash to the harness and 5th line so that if you pull the quick release, the kite will fall from the sky fully depowered. You will probably need to take your kite to a kite shop to do the 5th line mod.

Go to your nearest kite beach to see how guys have their kite leashes set up. Some guys with bow kites and full depower kites will have the leash attached to the chicken loop - don't do this with your 03 Naish.

Hope you work it out.

The bar (by itself, without all the fag-rigging) couldn't be better.
I use one myself.
But I always cut my handle down to 40cm max and customize to suit.

I like the old Cab Co2 bar cause it is one of the few that has a circle-bracket mounted on the centre,
rather than a stupid hole drilled thru the guts,
which creates a weak point, causes rope chafe, and pinches your fingers.
Ouch.
Also the bracket tells you which way is right side up,
I can feel it when the bar is underwater,
I can fly blind.
I can feel it.
Dr Feelgood.
Good bar.

I have to agree with you there - the mounted bracket was an excellent thing...

Cheers for that guys, researching old technologies is proving to be almost impossible. Ill be looking into a 5th line setup shortly.
