I for one welcome progress in design and people who back the ideas guys with promotion. I remember the first kitesurf video from Robby Naish that took an old idea and with some promotion and the best sport ever was born. I remember when i saw kane Hartill and some other guys from NZ ripping enmasse on a simple kite that suited their conditions and made it affordable to do. I remeber first seeing a kite that was so stable it made it possible for the average joe to learn in waves on rare weekends and arvos off that happened to coincide with the wind I now see lots of different kites that make this possible I remember when the depower line and loop were developed then the various quick release systems and eventually max depower kites and the name given to them by the naysayers ,and users of them being labeled gay I continue to see the implementation and commercialisation of new and old ideas that are redeveloped or tweaked so that more people can enjoy
I still scratch my head at the narrow mindedness of some people and prejudices that I thought went out when the rediculous old snowboarder vs skier/ us and them mentality finally died
I believe there are several very large manufacturers who are currently very close to releasing the very first computer controlled kite ...Yes it is a bow kite and with carefully positioned gyros and satelite navigation this kite will not only have 300% depower and really nice colours but will virtually fly itself ... The upshot of this incredible development is that as long as you have a waterproof laptop and the ability to stand you can now kite like the pros ...Awesome Aye ...
