i'm very new to the sport of kitesurfing and looking for some people to go kiting with so i have assistance in launching, landing and can learn more about tides and wind ect. (maybe be rescued if necessary) I have had lessons down the sunshine coast as enzos would never get back to me and do own my own gear (2011 fluid ego 11.5m kite not much use and a big directional board for now to learn with). I would most certainly feel alot safer with experienced kiters around. cheers

Hi mate
Funny thing with enzo, thats exactly what happened to me at the end of last year. Im from Burrum heads and go kiting off Serena beach. Theres a handful of guys that are really helpful that kite down the pier and off the waterpark. Good to go down and have a chat. Good to hear more people in the bay giving it a go, specially cos theres no surf.

Hi Rhys. We are a small kiting community at the Bay, but also pretty helpful. As there are not a lot of us, you may find it difficult to get a launch, land, or rescue at times. Not because people won't help, but often you'll find the only other person kiting, if any, may already be on the water when you get there. I kite at the pier as much as anyone, and I often find I'm the only one out there, particularly during a weekday. I'll message you my contact details if you want info on best times etc, and I'll be happy to meet you down there sometime.
I'm not sure why Enzo didn't get back to you in the past, but I do know that our inconsistant winds here make it difficult. Lot's of people try to book a time and expect it to be blowing. When it does blow, I see him on the phone trying to get people there. Some schools will give you lessons in winds that Enzo won't and so I see him turn people away rather than disappoint someone and take their money.
Anyway, I'll be in touch, Steve.

If iam not on the water i manage the caravan park . If you are in the area drop in and have a chat .

Now through until winter basically. Predominant winds are SE's but you can't get your hopes up looking at the forecast, the predictions often exagerate the reality. When it's good, it's great kiting. Most visitors comment on how good we've got it here: few kiters, flattish water, sandbars for safety. If you haven't kited here before, you're in for a treat.

Very imaginative username Dave :) I told you, don't get too excited, these wind predictions often get our hopes up only to be dashed.

Hi All, I'm new to the sport too. Great to see so many locals keen to help out and be so friendly. Can't wait to meet a few people myself. I've only had a few lessons here and there over the past year due to the wind and spare time. Enzo has been great help to me with his time and getting me decent gear at a great price. Regarding lessons it's really hard in the bay due to the conditions being non existant or too gusty.. but Enzo always says to me if the conditions seem right and you have spare time, contact me. So I've got my gear and just need a refresher lesson, keen to see you all on the water very soon!

Hi Jacko. Good to hear your positive experiences with Enzo and your understanding of our conditions. Unfortunately, these ordinary conditions seem set to continue for a while. I hope the start of the season is not a foretaste of what's to come. Make sure you say hello to the guys when you get a chance to get on the water, it helps to be friendly. Visitors or new kiters often turn up and don't seem to want to talk, then if they get in trouble they're often left to sort themselves out for a while. Say hello and let people know your level of experience and you'll find we're a friendly bunch that are happy to help out when needed. Steve.

Yeah the recent conditions have been frustrating, espesh whilst trying to learn. I live at the marina so I see you guys kiting all the time. I've gone for a walk and helped launch the odd kite. Hopefully get a lesson in the next couple weeks to refresh last seasons lessons then get out there weekly after work & weekends. Thanks Chris
