interested in comments on peoples thoughts on kites for stronger winds ie 25+ knots
seems lower aspect kites are recommended but higher aspect kites deal with gusts and stronger winds better
have used hydro 7 (flat 9.5) and inferno flat 10 both flightly and get buffeted by gusts, hydro in particular needed close attention as
would power dive at slightest chance (got a rogered AC joint as a result)
i weigh 85kg, and was
thinking a x2/3 10 using inner line settings to slow it down
?shorter lines as well
any thoughts/experiences appreciated

I've got a G10 Peter Lynn kite that I've had up to 30kts with some depower left.I'm only 72 kg,with your weight I reckon 35kts easy.I can stay upwind at 20kts.Handles gusts really well.

when i first started going out in strong winds i used to think that low ar kites were the go because i was a bit scared of the speed and lift in the high ar kites but i found as my kite flying skills improved a little with the extra performance of the high ar kites it just made kiteing more fun now my most loved kite is my 8m x3[}:)]

25+ knots is when it all changes for me , I ride in small waves and very choppy water out the back when it gets to that .
So personally I have been looking for an easy kite to use that I can try and ride waves with .
Last year had the 03 flow 9m and it was great , ended up putting it on 20m lines to extend the windrange a bit .
I am 85 kg as well and only used this kite when the sand was blowing about half knee high on the beach . Anything less and I would put up the 11.5 lift .
I have just changed my kites to 10 and 14 lifts and only been out with them a couple of times (gero this weekend) LOVE the 10 , better bottom end (obviousely)and a lot more comfortable and bigger top end .
(surprise) .
Main reason I changed was to get more use out of my smallest kite , ended up extending my windrange as well , so I am stoked .
Using the shorter lines is totally different , I found it harder to jump and the kite flys in and out of the power a lot quicker giving an on-off feeling if you are not smooth in your kite handeling .
Tried 20's on my 15.5 LiftPro 11 Lift and On the 9 flow and personally I am totally over them . Won't be setting up a 20m bar this year .
I do believe it is all about personal prefernce and of course the kites you are using as I know of a couple guys that love thier 20m lines and make them work very well .

Wouldn't really recommend a 16m arc for a high wind kite arcman, but maybe we're talking different winds here. To me, high winds is 30 knots plus.

For a high wind kite, you can't go past an 8m venom. I just love it to bits. You know the days when the conditions are just that crap, it's gusty, rainy, that no kiter would even consider it, and only the windsurfers are out, the 8m venom just loves it.

cheers
