You should post this in the "You know you're addicted when..." thread.

Used only as indicative figures, my mate had to wait 2-3 months... but this was partly due to a combination of winter and a gear failure.

I'd say, if you're well organised, 5-6 minutes should do it (wind dependent)

I just recently had a baby girl. While mum and baby were in hostpital the rules were no visitors between 1-3, so what are you gonna do?, go kiting of course. I went three days in a row. Didn't tell the mrs though, she wouldn't of understood.

i went when she was still in hospital (after the birth I'm not a pig!)

With number one child I went on a week long fishing trips a few weeks after (mother in law was up helping out)

on one of the other posts on a similar topic somone said a really cool saying I'd never heard before

"you have to bend the tree when it's young"

My son was born in May and what I found was that once you get them home you wont get much sleep untill you get a bit of a routine going, so it wasn't a question of being "allowed" to go kiteing/surfing it was just a lot of the times your too tired/sleep deprived to do it, you get to a point where you tend to choose sleep over getting out there.
My advice would be this;
Get this book, www.saveoursleep.com.au its the best $35 you will ever spend!
Buy some earplugs and talk your mrs into letting you sleep in another room.
Congrats and good luck
