i was walking along a beach a few weeks ago and got hit by a kite taking off!!!!
painful and am recovering.
is this common?
any body else heard of this type of injury?
i dont even remember what happened

If you have in fact been injured by a kite and you are legitimately seeking answers to your questions-

It isn't common for members of the public to be injured by kites, however there seem to be a lot of near misses discussed here and a general discord between the responsible majority of kiters and the irresponsible few who kite in a manner that put the public at risk. It's also possible an inexperienced beginner was flying the kite.

Your second question is a bit short of detail to answer properly. You ask if anyone has heard of this sort of injury, but you don't describe your injury at all.

If you have been injured by a kite and you want to pursue the matter further you should contact the official body for kiting in your area to find out what courses of action are available to you.

If you have been injured by a kite and are wondering why the responses above don't seem to take you seriously, having only 1 post makes you look a lot like a troll. If you are a troll then good luck to you, if you aren't then we hope you're ok.

Many regular kite beach users have been hit repeatedly on the head driving us into the soft sand at many of WA's beaches, like brightly coloured, board short covered nails.

Some people are just soft, HTFU or its a bag of cement for you TROLL.

Check if the guy had IKO insurance - you may be in for a windfall!

And then we can see if the insurance system actually would ever pay a claim!!

Maybe you could post some before and after (the accident) piccies of yourself and we could start an appeal for you mate.

Incidentally, was there any brain injury?

I did not get the guys name - he was at Pinnaroo Pt in WA.
He was helpful - but my thoughts were about getting to emergency.
My enquiry was about trying to come to some understanding with what had happened.
I have had an op and everybody says I am lucky.
Maybe in 6 months I can use my arm and work again.
Since the first post - I have heard of one other on the same beach 2 weeks ago.
