Mate i'm with suncorp and they insure my gear. Mind you they also insure my car and contents. Did a deal with them on my KS gear, it's insured Australia wide.

Cheers

Make sure you read the fine print.....suncorp would insure my kite but you can't claim if it was in use!!! Not much point in that!

cgu blue ribbon accidental damage. most insurance policies wont cover whilst in use, but will cover for loss, accidental damage or having your ****e taxed out of the back of the ute, even if unsecured.

CGU Blue ribbon is the way to go. I had some equipment stolen from my car and there was no dramas with the claim at all. The even paid out within 7 days!!

Yeah, i'm with CGU, and just added sporting goods to be covered for accidental damage as part of the "home & content" cover. The premium ended up being only little bit extra - can't remember exactly but like maybe 10 or so bucks more per month.

I damaged my board this year, and claimed it based on accidental damage, and they paid out for the brand new board.

Most insurance companies only cover it if it's in your unit once you take it out or ou tit in the car it's not covered. We're with AAMI and we have an extra "rider" for our kite gear, covers it anywhere world wide which is good if you travel.

That just means if you damage your kite while using it you can't claim it on insurance, which I think is fair enough! If it gets stolen out of your car then it would be covered. No insurance is going to cover gear against theft if it is left unattended on the beach.

When I was shopping around for Home and Contents insurance I found this was not the case. I had exactly what was covered explained to me. If you get the added insurance it covers accidental loss or damage of your stuff (mobile phones was the example I was given) outside of your house or wherever you are.
