the answer is YES!! ive just got back from a down south road trip and must say it houses some epic places with consistant wind! near bunbury is australind, a sweet flat water spot with freindly locals... as for boatramps at margaret river, if you're an expert in pants browning big surf, this place has you're name written all over it!! overall W.A has some of the best kitespots and solid waves you could ask for. p.s if you do go to margaret river swing by the settlers tavern for a couple cheeky red wines, plenty of talent there

cheers dork man,
I will keep clear of the boat ramps as my surf skills aren't up to scratch just yet. I can handle bad choppy little waves 1-3 foot, but would rather practice drowning in much smaller waves for starters. perhaps i could get some practice in b4 i get there it sounds worth it!
i boogey boarded there once and thought "clean clear glassy, nothing too big nice....," then the next day it was FN HUGE!!

Broke my collar bone.

Cheers for the word-up on the flat water and friendly locals though. I shall have to drag a kite over there and have a go.

now i'm excited!!

yes bunbury is great. im a local. australind is good most of the time. u gotta keep out of the windsurfers side but that aint hard. i havent bin there yet but i've seen ppl kiting down past the cut. looks gd but hav to chek it out. there isnt a local kite shop but theres an instructor down at australind (i can never remember his name) and he sells stuff i think. margaret river has many places u just gotta look for em. anyway u'll enjoy the water down here n i mite cya round. suaa eddy

I live in Bunbury and kite almost everyday in Australind.
Yeah, atmosphere in Australind is great... everyone is pretty cool... and outsiders are very welcome to kite here.

Tips:

Do a downwinder from 'Grand Canals' to Australind and play around the islands and behind the jetty - the flattest water EVER!

Wear botties - crabs, sting rays and broke glass are not uncommon there.

check the tide b4

Have fun all... see you there.
