I am in portsea (Vic) for few weeks ...just a family time ..not much time for kiteing! Conditions are good! Wind side shore side on 15 /20knot...empty long beach ..but no one around! No one else comes here to kite or windsurf..must be some restriction ..does anyone know if it is a no flying zone? Any tips or info would be great.. thanks!

afaik you can kite there, I think people just go to some other beaches on the peninsula that are better for it.

I have kited there a bit, just be wary of the fact the conditions can change rapidly, I'm referring more to the banks and rips as opposed" to the wind. The beach is notorious for very very strong rips and sweeps. ( Harold Holt died here whilst he was prime minister)
There are not a huge number of kiters on the peninsula yet heaps of beaches so rarely will you find anyone else out......... You can kite ir surf portsea in winter and not see another person all day, mainly due to portsea and sorrento being holiday house towns. You will find more water users at RYE back beach as there is a more permanent population in RYe
Depending on wind direction you can head to the front beach ( west to NE). Or if you want a bit of flat water head to flinders for the water inside the reefs ( caution flinders is not for beginners or even intermediate really ) if the wind swings more S to SE E or NE try westerport bay ( 20-30min from portsea ( check shoreham, pt Leo , balnarring etc )
