The most popular spot in Jervis is Collingwood Beach. Its between Huskisson and Vincentia and is perfect in a Nor-easter. It might be a bit offshore there in a SW breeze though so you might have to think about St George's basin out west or Red-rock up in the north of the bay. Be careful at Red-rock though as there are sometimes some dodgy types hanging around.

Jervis is a sweet kiting spot - the cleanest water, white sand, long beaches and not too crowded. If only it could be dragged a little closer to Sydney!

ive kited Lake Wollumboola twice in a SW. i think it needs a fairly strong wind to be ok. was more the holes in the wind that got me rather then top end gusts. soon as it hit 25+ it was fine though. second time I tried was maybe 15kts with huge lulls which made it impossible to kite. the downwind side has trees everywhere right to the waters edge so dont get to close.

also tried Callala beach I think its called north of huskisson. its cross onshore in a SW at the north end. has about 4km of open space upwind but seemed just as gusty as the lake and its bit further to drive . nicer beach though.

long beach I think on the northern part of the bay might be ok too in a SW. ive sailed there before and theres about 10km of water upwind so maybe wouldnt be so gusty in a SW? would be quite onshore though and a thin beach with lots of trees.

ill probably head down tomorrow if theres wind. only a 70min drive from wollongong

Hmmm just how sharky is Jervis?

A snorkeler disappeared a couple of years ago.

Seem to remember reading the air patrol saying there are usually a few sharkees in the bay... due to the dolphins and other sealife there.
