I just thought I'd put this pic up. It looks like a cut and paste job but it's genuine. It's a pic of Mick jumping over a windsurfer but it looks like he perched the board right on top the mast. (No he didnt land on the windsurfer!) This photo was taken a couple of months ago at North Queens Beach Redcliffe one 15-17kts NE afternoon. The Combi trader is in the background returning from Moreton. Great photo Clinton!

Hey qfmike,

The picture shows the kiter to be downwind of the windsurfer but not by much. There was a cover shot in Freesail of John Messenger in a similar position atop of a windsurfer mast at Palmy years ago.

It is not something that should really be promoted as being cool, if anything, jumping upwind or even close to a windsurfer creates possibility for an accident like the one in Safety Bay recently where a local windsurfer was taken to hospital with fairly serious injuries inflicted by a flying kiter.

Fostering good relationships with your local sailboarders will not be achieved by jumping them or spraying them. Please keep a good safe distance. IKO recommend a safe jumping distance as a clear area 30m upwind, in front and behind and 50m downwind of you. Observe these simple rules and nobody gets hurt, everyone has a great day and we all end up respecting one another.

there is a vid i shot for my school thing that looks like the guy jumped over a wind surfer in the playing of it in class it got a laugh yet if ya pay attention you see hes like 20m away

Nice photo, I can't beleive how you can post a photo like that and people start preching safety before they know the real story. I'd be stoked, a little scared at first but stoked to have someone jump over me. Integration not isolation. Thats the answer. Otherwise we will have riots on our hands.

I prefer to tie them (windsufferers) up on the beach, then I dance naked (with my underwear on my head) and jump over them whilst singing taunts about their mothers.[}:)]

But only when there's not enough wind to be kiting.
