Hey guys my next-door neighbour, does the fpv with planes and helicopter stuff, he has now managed to fly his heli in the stronger winds and get some flyby kite footage.

The kite skills are very basic, but this is his 1st attempt at a kiteish vid and it's more about the cinematography than anything else,

Most of the footage is with the hero 3 black and the location is mainly south of Exmouth

Rc cam rigs are the future for action sports footage...
I have a bloke at work who is into all his rc stuff, but he wouldn't think for one moment of flying it over water.
Wish my neighbor was that cool.
Awesome vid too, one of the best on here.
Any pics if his setup that he uses?

What is he wearing on sec 00:48? Looks like some viewing googles? Both of them?

yeah that's correct the googles have lcds in them and it picks up a UHF cam feed mounted on the front of the copter, so they get a First Person View "FPV" out the front of the copter. One person is flying but both are watching. I belive the lcd's are 640 x 480 but i could be wrong.

i like it. makes average stuff look super cool. imagine if it was double overhead and 30 knots. thered be some insane footage.

superb footage and well put together vid.I can envisage the footage you could get of following someone closely riding a wave down the line that would be so so sweet.

Yeah pritty sure your right, i will ask, but i remember him talking about blacksheep, here is a link to his nerd vid talking about the copter and mods he has made, also shows some footage of the actual copter flying at 5:50 and some kite footage at the end.

he is still dialing in his skills/balls in terms of flying lower and closer to the kites and the water. If you contact om his youtube channel he will prob answer any of your nerdy/tech questions.

There was some footage of Winki Pop a couple of years ago with some amazing angles of dudes riding waves, I had never seen these angles before. Certainly takes filming to a new level. The pilot was with the surfer, then flew faster while the camera still followed the subject, then flew beyond the back of the wave all the while panned on to the surfer. Other frames including flying down the line ahead of the surfer but looking back, over the dude etc. Gave pretty much any angle you would ever want to see without having to spend thousands per hour filming, and you could get much lower than a standard helicopter.
Keep an eye on your battery life! Costly drink if you run out of juice....
