I wanna go on a holiday with my mate in july/august to go kiting. Don't want to spend too much.

I had a look on Windguru and Bali seems to have quite a bit of wind around that time of year. Is it really as good as it says? has anyone been there around that time of year?

Does anyone have any other ideas for an affordable 10 days of kiting somewhere most likely in Asia?

Hey Rick,

Not sure what your idea of affordable is - everyone is different but I reckon the Mauritius trips we do are excellent value for money.

The place has excellent wind, flat water, waves, interesting culture, and chilled atmosphere. The group tours we run are good fun.

The package includes, airport transfers, accommodation in a nice place with water views and comfortable rooms, informal coaching and organised clinics, prop photography and video included, safety boat for downwind pick ups, or offshore kitemares, and also for morning surfing the outer reefs. The safety boat opens up the possibility to kite amazing waves without fear of disaster.

We've had loads of happy customers over the years.
Check out more information here: http://kitethrills.com/explore-mauritius-with-kitethrills/

The cost is $1900 for 12 days excludes flights and food. Flights are approx $1400 from Perth at the moment. Food is generously afforded at $30/day.

here is a video to whet your appetite...

Bali August/July, great kite holiday, best time for wind, I've been last 3 years, back again this year, I've always got wind.

Cheap airfares (if you get in early although its always seems cheap from Perth), cheap accomodation (if you're not too picky, after all you just need somewhere to sleep on a kite/surf trip), cheap fresh healthy food.

But it always looks windier on the water than it is, definately not as much punch as home, there's a theory about the humidity ? If wind reasd say 20knts in Bali it will be like 15 knts here. My tip if your over 80kg take a 12-14, if well under 80kg take a 10. Although Ive seen a kid on a 7 but he would have been 30kg wringing wet.

Go a couple of hours up the N/W coast from Kuta for fairly uncrowded waves, kite your 10-12 & surfboard, cheap accomodation and great cheap fresh food from the few Warungs. Cruisy atmosphere around the few Warungs at night, no nightclubs. N/W Bali usually has better/stronger wind, a few knots makes a big difference over there.

Sanur for a massive lagoon for flatwater kiting with some waves out on the reef. Also take a big light wind kite to Sanur to maximise your time on the water.

Will be heading to Lombok this year as well.

Enjoy
