Give CGU insurance a call. I have the "blue ribbon" insurance which covers me anywhere in Australia and NZ for stolen sporting equipment.

I used to have CGU, and whilst they partially covered me when my gear was stolen from the car, i had the worst nightmare with them trying to make another car related claim that wasn't my fault... it was horrible experience and would never ever deal with them in my life...

am with AMII now, and also insuring sports gear for specified $$ value, and they were great when i had an accidental damage to my gear at home (got full replacement)

Under house contents insurance I have my kites and boards listed as separate portable items. It is an extra premium.

They're covered if they get stolen from a locked car or somewhere reasonably secure.

They are not covered if they're stolen from the beach or lost while in use.

Suncorp house and contents insurance won't cover your kite gear whilst it's in your car, on the beach or even in your house with your other contents. They won't even cover it when you have paid extra specifically to cover it....trust me I know.

I "was" covered through Allianz, under contents, with no extra premium, max claim of $2000. The wife had to speak to our broker about another matter and i asked her to mention the kites and SUP as i didnt have them when i got the windsurf gear covered. Nice of him to shop arround for a better deal with another company that doesnt cover it and not let us know, he's about to lose some buisness.
