a friend of mine that is just getting into kitesurfing told me last night of a kitemare that they had and it has since turned them back to windsurfing. so that it doesnt happen again i thought that i would pass it on.
alot of people kiteing in perth use a reride system were the bar goes up one line when you let go of it and the other 3 lines go slack. what happens if you snap the line(at the kite end) that the leash is on. your natural recation should be to let go of the bar, wrap it up and swim in. but if it is the line that the leash runs off that you snap when you let go of the bar it can just slide up to the stopper and still hold power. leaving you getting pulled by the kite and no way out!!!

the only way around this that i can think of is a quick release on your leash. i have been rideing with one for a while now but only because it comes standard with the naish bar and never realy thought anything of it but now i am glad i have one and i think that everyone should have one as well as a quick releas on the chicken loop.
anyone else got any ideas??
