I want to get up and running pretty fast, riding by the first lesson. Is this being too ambitious?

too ambitious. I got on the board at about half of the second lesson, but I had 10+ hour of training kite to back me up, and still was able to ride for no more than 10 seconds at a time during the rest of the lesson.
even if the teacher assures you that you'll be able to get on the board in the first 2 hours, let it go: it means he's letting something else behind, precisely either security mesures or kite flying skills. and trust me, you want both of them, if you don't wanna be on the front page of some newspaper as the violent death of the week..

depends on if the ex-pro is a good teacher and knows what too teach you.
Buy a training kite first and fly that a bit then go for a lesson

Exactly. Ex pro only means he/she knows how to ride. Nothing to do with teaching program or ability.
Get your own AKSA insurance before taking private lessons or you may end up paying off your lessons for life.

Definitely too ambitious. If you are anywhere near up & riding at lesson one you havent been taught anything of the essentials like saving your life etc.

You dont need lessons my trolling friend. 30kts and a 12 should have ya ripping downwind in no time.....

It's probably a case of the more you pay the quicker you learn. There's good reason why the standard lesson package is 3 two hour sessions.

No time noob, have you seen the graphs for the goldy? More wind than you will know how to deal with for a looooonnngggg time. You can wash my car while im kiting if ya want... 10 bucks towards your lessons in it for ya....
